I copy and paste the book programs from my Kindle MAC to Xcode to try them out, but this causes all formats to be lost.

Does anyone know a better way?, I wish I could download the code from a text file so when I copy and paste it I do not have to spend time editing it.

You won't like my answer, but I encourage you to type the program examples in yourself.   A big part of the learning process is learning to identify and correct mistakes reported by the compiler.  The examples are quite short, and I would therefore really recommend you enter them manually.

I realize this isn't a popular answer, but I do strongly believe in it.

Cheers,

As someone who used Steve's book to learn Objective-C and Xcode from scratch, I totally agree with Steve's recommendation to type the code yourself.  I learned much about how Xcode works and what errors typing produces by manually entering the code from the book.  This is a valuable part of learning, that will be learned sooner or later, and sooner is better.
