Hi Steve,

Do you know if this is the same release date for the UK?

No, sorry, don't know the UK dates.  Did you check Amazon's UK site?

Cheers,

Yes, but alas they're not very useful.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Programming-Objective-C-2-0-Developers-Library/dp/0321711394/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1308304608&sr=1-1

When I first ordered it, the website said it would be released June 6th, now it just says 'not yet released'.

Oh well, here's hoping it won't be long!

Thanks anyway,

Joe

I was just about to purchase it from Amazon US using their 2-4 day delivery option, however this was just over the price of the book, totalling just of £38.

I just wish Amazon UK would update the release date from June 6 - surely they know when they will be receiving copies.

I appreciate this is completely out of your hands Steve, so am not aiming this in your direction.

Just needed to rant.

Cheers,
Nick

I pre-ordered the 3rd edition from InformIT (the ePub/PDF version) and it said (as did you), that it would be available June 16. Well, now it's June 17 (June 18th on the East coast), and there's still no download links.

I called informIT and they said (basically), "Oops!" we'll get it sorted for Monday(ish). But, meanwhile, I don't have a book to read. Sad

Any ideas on what can be done? Any chance you'd share the ePub of the book with me? I can provide proof of purchase. Smiley

Does any know what the usual difference between US and UK availability is?

I really don't want to spend £38 to order it from the US, however if it likely not to be released here until some time in July then needs must.

Nick

Is there any discounted upgrade options for people who purchased the second edition recently?  I picked up the second edition right about the same time that Apple release XCode 4.

Thanks

Any idea when the 3rd addition might be released to O'Reilly Safari Books Online?

Thank you.

Well, I finally gave in and ordered the 3rd edition from Amazon.com (US) on Monday, and it has just this minute arrive at my door in the UK.

Well worth paying the extra postage to get it now, rather than waiting god knows how long for Amazon.co.uk to give us a proper date on availability.

My training will start tomorrow :-)

I ordered mine from Amazon in March, It was delayed then i got another email today giving the following date - Dispatch estimate: 18 July 2011 - 4 Aug 2011 To arrive by the 10th of August. The page for Amazon says delivery in 1 to 2 months.

Shame i can't afford to buy it from the states like you have, i'll have to wait abit longer for my delivery.

Don't now why it is taking so long though. Did the container with the books in fall off the boat?

Yeah, it's not very good on Amazon.co.uk's part.

I even tried emailing among other Pearson Ed UK (I believe they have something to do with Addison Wesley) to ask them for a UK date however they never bothered to reply.

To be honest, I am not exactly sure how different the 2nd and 3rd editions are, so depending on how desperate you are it may be a good idea to order the 2nd edition.

Hope you get your copy soon,
Nick

Hi Nick,

I figure since i have been waiting since March, i may as well wait a lttle longer to have xcode 4 pictures in the book, its only £1.10 more although a fair wait longer.

UK IN STOCK (Or so it says).

I have just order one from here (£19.13). I have ordered from them before with no problems, but we will see.
