My name is Doug.  I've been out of programming since the bust in '01.  I had been working in Seattle from Spring '96 to Fall '01.  I worked  mostly in Java, but my company put me through night school at UW for a certificate in C/C++ in '96-97.  However I was never really successful in C++.  Really loved Java though.  In fact I was one of the first seven Microsoft Java MVPs.

But like I said I quit programming when there was just no work in Seattle, and went back to a career as an OR nurse.  The money's good but the work is some of the worst in the world.

So now I'm working on certification in Java and learning Obj-C for iPhone dev.

We're in New Mexico right now but plan to move back to Seattle next Summer.

Great to be here!

Woops!  Didn't realize we had to pay that much for the Webcast (I've been out of work since April).  Can I still follow along on the forum?

BTW I've already worked through chap. 10 and haven't had too many problems so far.

Thank you,
Doug

Doug,

Sure, the forum is free for all.

Cheers,
